Professor Kenneth Pargament is the Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Bowling Green State University. He has published extensively on religion, spirituality, and health. Professor Pargament is the author of The Psychology of Religion and Coping: Theory, Research, Practice and Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy: Understanding and Addressing the Sacred, and (with Julie Exline) Working with Spiritual Struggles in Psychotherapy: From Research to Practice. He is also chief editor of the two-volume APA Handbook of Psychology, Religion, and  Spirituality. He has been cited as one of the 50 most influential living psychologists in the world and received many academic awards, including the Outstanding Contribution to the Applied Psychology of Religion and Spirituality Award from the Division 36 of APA in 2017. One study of Professor Pargament examines the role of positive religious coping in helping college students who are struggling spiritually. Students who looked more to God for help in coping and perceived a response from God reported more personal growth and transformation (Exline et al., 2016).  Another recent set of studies of Professor Pargament evaluated the effects of spiritual competency training among mental health providers and graduate students. Participants in the training made significant improvements in their knowledge, skllls, and attitudes about spiritually integrated therapy (Pearce et al., 2020, 2024).  This training is now being expanded globally.  Further details of Professor Pargament’s research can be found on his personal website at https://www.kennethpargament.com/ and his Google Scholar page:
